BASIC INFO
Visits
While the primary purpose of this program is to shoot a documentary film, there will be plenty of time to visit some of the most famous sights in Nairobi and Mombasa, which are Kenya’s two largest cities, and the places where we will be spending most of our time. Also, the program includes a two-day safari to one of Africa’s most well-known National Parks, the Amboseli National Park at the border between Kenya and Tanzania, and a short stay at an eco-lodge in Diani, by the Indic Ocean. You will also have a chance to see some of Kenya’s beautiful scenery while we travel by train between Nairobi and Mombasa on the Madaraka Express.
These are just some of the places we will visit:
Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
You will be able to learn about the orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation program that is run by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. The center is open every morning and visitors can see how the orphan elements are fed, while they play around.
Giraffe Centre
You will be able to watch, hand-feed and learn all about the conservation efforts being done to protect the Rothschild’s giraffe, which were just a few decades ago on the brink of extinction.
Nairobi CBD & Convention Centre
You will visit one of the tallest buildings in Nairobi, the KICC, from which you can get a great panoramic view of the city. If time allows, we will also visit some of the historical buildings in Nairobi’s CBD.
Amboseli National Park
You will visit one of Africa’s largest and most iconic National parks at the border of Kenya and Tanzania, home to the tallest mountain in the continent, Mt Kilimanjaro. You will join two safaris and, if lucky, you will be able to spot all “Big Five” in their natural habitat: lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffalos.
Diani
You will stay at an eco-friendly tree house right by the Indian Ocean. Diani is a thriving touristic destination, with miles and miles of white sand pristine water. The perfect way to end, after two weeks of hard work.
